CCAA is one of the sponsors of the 30th Annual West Coast Can-Am Championships at B.C. Institute of Technology on May 30 and May 31, 2009. The tournament includes Wushu, Kung Fu, Tai Chi, Karate, Taekwon Do, Point Fighting and Sanshou. The winners of 5 males and 2 females will represent Canada to compete in the Canada-China Championships 2009 hosted by Shaolin Temple in China.

The Guangdong Overseas Chinese Affairs Office delegation headed by Mr. Chen Yanghao, vice director of Guangdong Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, visited Vancouver on May 5, 2009. The delegation visited CCAA office and attended the welcome dinner hosted by CCAA and other organizations. Mr. Chen Yanghao, the leader of the delegation, expressed his deepest thanks for all of the overseas Chinese people. With their donation amount over RMB40 billion after 1979, it helps people rebuild their lives after disaster and makes a huge difference in China.

As invited by CCAA, Consul General Liang Shugen and his wife, Consul Chen Ribiao, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China paid a visit to CCAA on Feb 26, 2009. Mr. Johnny Fong, the president of CCAA and some members of CCAA were present at the reception. The welcome dinner hosted at the CCAA local office was meaningful and full of happiness. Consulate General Liang praised the events that CCAA hosted over the past few years.

To develop the economic & trade exchanges and investment promotion, the Jiangmen economics and trade delegation headed by the vice mayor of Jiangmen municipal government Mr. Yi Zhongqiang, visited Canada on Feb 15, 2009. Members of the delegation are directors from several municipal government departments. CCAA hosted a welcome dinner to the delegation on Feb 16, 2009. Guests who attended the dinner include Consul Chen Ribiao and Wang Jian, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Vancouver, MLA Richard Lee, City Councillor of Vancouver George Chow, former City Councillor of Vancouver Daniel Lee and some other prominent leaders from local Chinese community organizations. The delegation visited CCAA office the following day to discuss future economic cooperation opportunity with each other.
